This week, our city has been shaken by the tragic events on the 16th Street Mall. Two lives were lost, two more were injured, and our hearts go out to all those affected. The attacks have reminded us of the importance of community, vigilance, and care for one another in difficult times.

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston and Police Chief Ron Thomas have reassured residents that this type of random violence is rare, and steps are being taken to increase police presence downtown. Let’s continue to stand together as a community and support one another as we move forward.

Key Updates on the 16th Street Mall Tragedy

 Timeline of Events: Four attacks occurred over the weekend, spanning less than a mile along the 16th Street Mall.

Suspect in Custody: Denver police arrested 24-year-old Elijah D. Caudill, who now faces charges of murder and attempted murder.

Victims: The first victim was identified as 71-year-old Celinda Levno, a flight attendant visiting Denver. The fourth victim, who also lost their life, has not yet been publicly identified.

Safety Measures: Denver police are increasing their presence in the downtown area to provide reassurance and protection.
