🧠✨ Sensory-Friendly Fun in the Mile High City
Because inclusion is always in style
Museums can be magic. But for families navigating autism, sensory processing disorders, or other neurodiverse experiences, that “magic” can sometimes feel like way too much. Good news: Denver’s cultural scene is stepping up, turning the volume down, and making space for everyone to explore.
These sensory-friendly events, mornings, and exhibits across the city aren’t just thoughtful—they’re transformative. We’re talking lower lights, smaller crowds, trained staff, and spaces that welcome all ways of experiencing the world.
If you or someone you love needs a little less sensory overload and a lot more “you’re welcome here,” here’s where to go:
🧒 Museums & Attractions for Little (and Big) Explorers
🧩 Children’s Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus Sensory-friendly evenings, a permanent low-sensory exhibit (“The Nest”), adaptive tools, and low-sensory workshops. You can also prep ahead with their How We Play guide. 📅 Upcoming low-sensory evenings: May 7, July 23, Sept. 24, Nov. 12, and more. 🦕 Denver Museum of Nature & Science Quarterly sensory-friendly events feature fidget tools, quiet zones, and calm vibes. Offers sensory-friendly afternoons, letting guests get up close to critters and butterflies in a calming space. Yes, even sharks can be serene! Sensory mornings are offered occasionally—perfect for an underwater adventure without the overwhelm. | Low-sensory mornings, tactile art tables, and reduced gallery noise make this a great spot for calm creativity. Select sensory-friendly movie showings (often on Tuesdays!) with lights up, sound down, and total chill energy. 🦁 Denver Zoo From Low-Sensory Nights to a sensory room near Primate Panorama, the zoo is one of the city’s most thoughtful spots. Pro tip: there’s a large changing table for older kids/adults too. Every third Sunday of the month = sensory-friendly mornings with science demos and quiet corners. Summer sensory mornings offer quiet walks, calm colors, and plenty of space to breathe in the blooms. |

🎶 Sensory-Friendly Sounds & Shows

Occasional low-sensory folk shows where dancing, singing, and stimming are totally encouraged. An extensive calendar of sensory-friendly musicals, concerts, and dance shows makes this suburban gem a family fave. Keep an eye on their calendar for inclusive performance options throughout the year. Each winter they host a sensory-friendly Nutcracker that’s as magical as it is accessible. AMC Sensory Friendly Films offer a low-key movie experience for guests who need a break from booming sound and pitch-black theaters. |

What’s Happenin’ Spotlight: Acreage by Stem Ciders

We don’t always get to sneak away for a weekend hang, but when we do… Acreage by Stem Ciders is at the top of our list. One of our team members was out there this weekend, soaking up the sunshine, mountain views, and seriously good vibes — and came back glowing.
Acreage has it all — and then some. Sweeping mountain views, cozy-chic vibes, delicious cider, and craveable food all come together at this Lafayette gem. Perched on a hilltop just minutes from downtown, it feels like a little escape without going far.
The service stood out as much as the scenery. The team was warm, welcoming, and knew their stuff — from pairing the perfect cider flight to talking us through the menu. Add in that golden hour glow? Yeah, we didn’t want to leave.
The atmosphere is pure Colorado magic: rustic-modern, community-focused, and made for lingering with a flight or a full plate. Whether you’re rolling deep with friends or flying solo with a good book, this spot delivers.
